The PCE Club presents the 110th Monthly Event:

How to help your child become a lifelong reader and writer?

Many teachers and parents become frustrated when children past the age of learning to read are still struggling or display little interest in reading or writing. We are pleased to announce that Ms. Melissa Edwards and Mr. Glenn Schiltz, two very experienced English teachers, will give us a talk on how to help your child become a lifelong reader and writer January 12, our 110th monthly event.

Ms. Melissa Edwardss holds teaching certifications in reading, language arts, English and journalism. She taught K-12 for nearly a decade and has been teaching English language arts and journalism at college for more than 9 years. In addition, she directs a private creative writing program for children ages 3 to 17. Ms. Edwards will talk about the reading/writing connection and how parents can leverage childrens emerging reading to move them toward a love of writing.

Mr. Glenn Schiltz was a middle school educator, whose students consistently exceeded the state standards for reading comprehension. His activities are based on reading research. Mr. Schiltz will discuss what parents can do to help their children to better understand what they read.
